So you may already know that I am having a bit of difficulty with my CPU fan (Arctic Cooling Freezer 7 Pro). So I've been monitoring my CPU temps to make sure they are within the safe ranges. (I have a quad-core extreme).
Using ASUS PC Probe II (installed from mobo)... it says my CPU temp at idle is 70C.
Using Core Temp... it says that each core at idle is 40C.
I can understand a couple degrees difference between programs... but 30C??? Which am I to believe.
I'm sure hoping PC Probe is completely wrong and that Core Temp is right... because 70C is

I really don't know. It's an Asus PH-5W Deluxe Mobo, and it came with Asus Probe II, and Probe does give readouts on certain temps like CPU, cpu fan speed, voltages and what not... so I am assuming it's taking it's reading from something.
All the leads are connected properly... at least I would think so, since everything seems to be seated properly.
did you tried with motherboard monitor, if i remember right this one i used when i had troubles with my barton 2500+ and spire 3$ fan and 65+ degrees involved. I am currently monitoring hdd temp since i got hp laptop with custom hard drive by seagate runing at 7200 rpm, and the laptop's original was 5400. Sometimes the temp goes over 62 degrees which is dangerous
Hey gosu... not sure what you are referring to when you speak of "motherboard monitor". It is to my knowledge that the mobo monitor is indeed PC Probe II.
Motherboard Monitor description
A tool that will display information from the sensor chip on your motherboard
It's a trusted freeware application for monitoring.
