Ye' old general discussion board. Basically, for everything that isn't covered elsewhere. Come here to shoot the breeze, shoot your mouth off, or whatever suits your fancy. This forum is not for asking programming related questions.
I don't drink (never have nor will) but I know a lot of programmers that do. Then strangely I notice a lot of gamers who drink caffeine...which confuses me. If I did drink I'd probably do so at a LAN party and not while working on code (those who drink most likely do so at home off the job unless we have a lot of self-bosses here).
Any way what, when, and why do you drink what you drink?

Be careful with that, taking stimulants and depressants simultaneously can cause heart palpitations and death. (It's more common than most people think.)
Caffeine mostly in the morning. Alcohol: for me it's not about the alcohol, but it's just that there's no alternative when I want a tasty drink in the evening. Herbal tea? Too sweet soft drinks? No thanks. The day they make alcohol free beer that tastes the same I'll start drinking that. I'm afraid that day will not come soon.

Move to the US - all their beer is like that. I went out drinking with some friends in Philly last fall and was baffled by how drunk all the Americans were... it was all we could do to get even a slight buzz going.

Can't help on the taste front though
Supposedly it's the same in England with all the moderately warmish "lager" beer.. I'm so happy I live close to Belgium, were they have hundreds kinds of beer, each one more special and better then the next one
I drink a lot, I'm trying to cut back to slash my caloric intake. Summer fast approaching (today actually no?) I want to get into the best shape I can.
Caffiene apparetly, in a pure form is a great boost of energy preworkout, so I might take pills, never been a fan of coffee though.
Neither, both suck. I guess in some normal portions it might be healthy...but hard to tell and you get out of normal too quick.... most people use it either to to boost productivity (caffeine) and I think a good sleep is faaaaar greater, and other to just get out of reality (alcohol) which is sad.
I'm sorry it had to come to this jmut, but you're going to have to turn in your honorary cloak, plastic badge, and 100% not-cotton bell bottom pants. (Sp...don't worry, I'll put in a good word for you at work).
Yeah, you have to be careful not to end up in a vicious circle. Drink a beer too much in the evening and you need more coffee the next day. Drink too much coffee during the day, you're so tense from the caffeine you need more beer in the evening to relax. etc etc Better be careful
