I want to second the freenode idea,

I also like the idea of it being more a "general chat, and quick answers" sort of place.

Quick answers means "dude, does anyone else see that weird display glitch on page X!?" not "um, so I'm getting about 6 dozen PHP errors....."

So.... what does anyone else think?

I find chatting annoying I much prefer forums, except when I want answers immediately, then chatting would be nice.

Forums allows a much more thoughrough explanation than chatting does.

If you wanted to keep in touch with buddies on DevNet, why not just add them to facebook???

Everyone here is an alias. Not to mention Facebook is not a chat.

But it is nice sometimes, to have a place where you'll be chatting with people that you have something in common with... like developing websites.
