DevNet: What are you drinking?

Post by Kieran Huggins »

I take drinks very seriously. Nothing better to code by than a steaming cup of whatever.

So last night I was introduced to a maple chai: make chai tea and add maple syrup to sweeten. Best results with real maple syrup and a good chai. I'm having one with milk right now and it's not bad either!

My usual hot drinks @ home:
Ceylon tea w/ milk & honey (Twinings)
some kind of honey-citrus tea stuff (found at the Korean market, looks like citrus peel strips suspended in a clearish goo concentrate) - no English name :-(
Apple cider, w/ a dusting of cinnamon (when it's in season)

@ starbucks:
"London Fog" - a vanilla earl grey tea misto (half steamed milk, half earl grey tea with a double shot of vanilla syrup)
Vanilla Latte (dbl shot of espresso, vanilla syrup and steamed milk)

@ Tim Horton's
medium double-double with a shot of hazelnut.
Ice Cap if it's really hot out.

juice:
blueberry juice FTW!
there's also a nice raspberry-blueberry mix.
occasionally I'll get a big tin of pineapple juice. When I'm feeling sassy.
not really juice, but Arizona Green Tea w/ Honey & Ginseng is likely the best liquid I've ever consumed. Seriously.

@ the bar:
random fruity drinks (umbrellas are a +1, as are cherries) Got given a gay porn comic with one once, I think it was a commentary on my selection.
Corona, Sol or something light (tasting, not as in light beer) - Steamwhistle is a good Toronto beer.
Caffrey's if I want something heavier, though I tend to shy away from taps as they often taste rather dirty :-(
I have a nice bottle of Carol Anne's (like Bailey's, only better) at home, but never order it at the bar.

Wow.. what a list. Still here? Post yours!

I also take my drinks seriously. Too bad it's not always the other way around

Anyways, my list is shorter. We don't have starbucks here (can you imagine?), but when I visit the US I like some frappuchino or something with a triple espresso in it and chocolate :)

Then a good red wine or Belgium beer like Hoegaarden or Leffe in the evening. Never regular beer. That's it.

I have been staying away from the flavored coffee drinks as of late. Not sure why, but a regular coffee with cream and sugar is just doing to me just right.

Starbucks, Peet's, Seattle's Best, 7-11, Qwik Stop, Joe's House of Fat and Coffee, etc:
Coffee, with a little half & half and sugar

Wine:
Almost anything Cabernet. I also like a bold Petite Syrah, regular Syrah, Shiraz and a Red Zinfandel.

Beer:
Lagers. Guinness draught, Heineken, Microbrews. Anyting with a bold flavor that does not taste like MGD, Budweiser or Corona. Although I am thinking I want to try Dos Equis just because of the cool ass 'Most interesting man in the world' commercials.

Water:
As long as it is somewhat clear I am game.

Depends on the season... in winter I prefer something hot like mulled wine or 'hot irish' how they call it here (it's like mulled wine, but made of Jameson instead of wine). In summer cold mohito is great... as well as Bouquet of Moldova with Sprite. Evenings are best spent with a glass or two of Kindzmarauli or some other Georgian wine.

At work we usually drink some crappy tea like Lipton.

You think so? You have to taste that Lipton then. It's like chemically colored chopped straw packed into tea-bags.
