Parents and other old people on Facebook

Post by Ollie Saunders »

I set up facebook accounts for both my parents. They wanted to see what I'm up to and I figured my profile on facebook would be pretty good. None of them have used it for anything though. They have no profile pictures and no activity. How could I encourage them to start using it properly? One of the things that bother them is the sacrifice of privacy .

Easy: I'll friend them and start tagging compromising pictures of you. I might resort to photoshop.

They'll be stalking you in no time! (just like Meg's mom)

I got my mom on facebook. Created the account, gave her the basic low down on what it is and how it works...

No privacy concerns though, I think by default Facebook makes your account private, only viewable for your friends list people.

I had her look up a couple cousins and girls from work, etc...now she checks it about once a week.
