GPS for cars - does price matter?

I can get a GPS from walmart for $120, or I can get one from our local electronics store for $1200. That's the price range here in my town.

They all seem to have the same features to me (I don't want an mp3 player / radio / anything else). They have maps and voice instructions. Are some maps better than others? I don't get the dramatic price range.

It doesn't matter that much between the mid-range and the top end models.. the top end ones just add pointless features. Cheap ones though, they tend to be a bit slow to update and to calculate the route, and the satellite lock can take ages when you start off. It'll still work but it'll be a little annoying.

Why are you buying one in your town? There's dozens of models on Amazon.com surely.
