How does the typical day of a moderator look like?

Post by matthijs »

So, as stated in the subject line. As a moderator, how does a typical day on devnet, as a moderator, look like? How much time do you spend moderating stuff, removing spam, etc? What are the fun moments and what are the bad ones? Just curious :)

8:00am: Get up. Have a shower. Get dressed.
9:00am: Sign in to MSN and check email. There's never anything interesting.
9:05am: Browse the Active Topics page on PHPDN. Answer some of the newbies questions in a quietly condescending manner that they'll think is helpful but is really me taking the <span style='color:blue' title='I'm naughty, are you naughty?'>smurf</span>.
9:10am: Delete all the spam. Get annoyed by how much there is. Ban some people to relieve the stress.
9:15am: Make some breakfast.
9:30am: Do some work stuff.
10:30am: Back to PHPDN. Answer some more questions. Consider banning all the other mods and taking over.
10:35am: More work.
12pm: Read emails. There's never anything interesting.
12:30pm: Back to PHPDN. Nothing interesting has been posted. Consider banning random people to see how long it'd take until they complain.
1:00pm: Lunch.
2:00pm: Read emails. There's never anything interesting.
2:05pm: More work.
4:00pm: Bored. Read news websites. Watch YouTube videos.
4:30pm: Back to PHPDN. Delete some more spam. Consider banning myself just to see if the forum software would let me.
4:35pm: More work.
5:30pm: Time for tea and The Weakest Link. Anne Robinson is a venomous witch who I hate. Why do I watch that show?
6:00pm: Read emails. There's never anything interesting.
6:05pm: Check Facebook. Get a message from a girl. Woo! Remember she's my ex's best mate and I can't go there. Boo!
6:10pm: Back to PHPDN. Answer some more posts. Laugh at how people always say what they want is really easy. If it's easy why can't they do it?
6:15pm: Play a game of Command & Conquer.
7:30pm: Work on some open source code stuff.
9:00pm: Switch off PC. Watch some telly.
11:00pm: Bedtime.
