introducing myself

Post by elevate »

Hello,

My name is Ben and im a young website designer and internet marketer from the UK.

I am here because ive decided to learn PHP and want to make some friends who are good with PHP and get some help installing PHP and SQL on my mac.

I tried using some program called MAMP or something where its suppose to be 1 click install for mac. But it didnt work.

Can anyone point me in the right direction to a guide or something or some really simple software? Im new to macs aswell as PHP lol.
:banghead: :banghead: :banghead: :dubious:

I look forward to getting to know you all. This seems like one of the most active PHP forums on the web so no doubt i will become a regular here.

Regards,

I use the Windows version on my development machines. It works pretty well.

EDIT: Where abouts in the UK are you? There's quite a few of us brits here. I live near Bournemouth but work for a company in Newcastle.

Im from Sheffield in South Yorkshire, currently unemployed (just come back from living abroad for 5 months which was nice).

Its so hard to get a job in this industry, there must be 100 applicants for every 1 job. Plus most jobs seem to favor PHP coder over a good quality designer. Design quality up north is not so great.

Ive actually decided just to start my own agency and work on my own, there may only be 1 new vacancy every 2 weeks to work for an established agency but theres thousands of companies and organizations out there who could benefit from my design and marketing experience.

Whats business like in newcastle? or Bournemouth

Welcome to DevNet forums, Ben.

I live a l-o-n-g way away -- california! But here in the forums, it's all the same! ;)

I've been in and around London several times, but never up North. :)
