Movie maker

I need to record some instructional movies for some software...I'm planning on using CamStudio for desktop and Windows movie maker for pulling all the peice togather with sound loops, etc...
Movie Maker is somewhat limiting...does anyone know of anything better?
Ideally something which allows precise control over every frame and sound bytes so I may have a background sound track and voice over top of it along with video from my camcorder.

Adobe Premiere is the photoshop of video..
umm if you use camtasia studio it has a built in editor, even can auto edit your presentations based on mouse movements and stuff ( with built in narration recording / editing )

iMovie if you have access to a Mac. It's brilliant.

No Mac. Adobe products are usually a little pricey.
I don't mind paying but as long as it's reasonable. I really only need it for a one time gig...no point in investing hundreds.
I'm not using Camtasia...I'm using CamStudio (open source)

How about ffmpeg then ( kidding, lol ) then you could pragmatically make your edits ( theres actually a jquery interface for a skeleton video editing widget I might look into thats supposed to integrate with ffmpeg on the backend )

More than enough time...but does using the shareware version prohibit you from using the software for commercial purposes?

Free copies of a program called ulead video editor can be easily found online which works kinda similar to premiere, I've gotten several copies when I've purchased hardware and gotten it as a free download somewhere

Sweet. Do you have a "geeky" voice too? Maybe you could create the videos for me?

Windows XP has got an inbuilt movie maker. I dont know how it works. But i think is should. Even Nero has got a movie maker but i have used ULEAD instead and the sound character is much better than Nero.
