Freelance rates in the States?

Yo,

I'm currently in the NYC (I'm from the UK) and I was wondering what the general freelance rate for web developers is here?

In the UK I generally charge 35 an hour (around $60) and price a downwards sliding scale based on the length of a project (down to a minimum of 25 pounds an hour for 50 hours plus).

What would a reasonable rate here be?

5,000,000/hour

Pesos that is.

To answer your question in all honesty...

It depends on the individual. I've seen some people on here claim to make hundreds of dollars an hour. Whether that is reality or fiction who knows until we we their bank statements. Good salesmen I guess, cause developer talent or experience doesn't fluctuate that much. :P

Personally I'm content with $30-$35Cdn/hour and I've worked for as low as $25 in some cases. I don't need mucho money to write code I'd be doing it for free anyways. :)

Unfortunately I have rent, cars, pets and bills that all take up money so I have to earn a living from my time :(
