I am a freelance php programmer.I am using Windows Vista on my computer.Could you tell me which free IDE is best for me..and the url at which the ide is avialable?

UltraEdit...best editor ever...as for IDE...could use some improvement but most things you can achieve via addon's

PCSpectra, they said free. UltraEdit might be good (not having money, nor being a Windows user I have not tried it), but free it is not.

There are lots of good editors on the aforementioned forum, but I think it's worth responding so alwinaugustineiphp doesn't have to search out each one to see what works on Vista or not and what's free or not.

Other free windows editors include Eclipse (very heavy) and Notepad++ (don't have much experience).

I would go with UltraEdit for sure...

uh, grs, I'll repeat... again... ULTRAEDIT IS NOT FREE.

Sorry, but not having money myself, I empathize with those among us for whom spending money on a development environment is simply not an option.

Yes, folks, please read the OP's question before jumping in with suggestions that don't fit the question.

That said, the question "which one is best for me?" is impossible to answer. Only you can decide that. But assuming that you really meant "which one do YOU like?", the two FREE editors that I like are AceHTML and jEdit.
