Ipod expertise needed

Having just set up my new computer and downloaded iTunes, I connect my iPod to charge it and it wants to know if I want to erase the iPod and synch it to this version of iTunes. I check "no" of course, and it's charging as we speak, but that poses the next question...

How do I synch this version of iTunes to my iPod??? The old computer is ausgespielt, so... How do I get the existing music from my 'pod onto the computer? The tunes were all ripped off of cd's (one's legally owned by me), but I don't want to have to do it all over again.

there a number of programs that will allow you to pull music off of your i-pod.

if it is a older gen ipod then the program Ephpod will work fine
Download here: http://www.ephpod.com/dowcnload.shtml

if you have a new gen ipod then your best bet is to go buy a program

or if you dont mind a really weird name like porw <-- its what my dark knoght was called

then you can with your ipod connected go to your my computer if your on a pc (srry not sure bout mac or linux) and go to your ipod, then go to your tolls then folder options, and tell it to view hidden folders. then you will see a folder called ipod_control, is this folder there will some folders called f00, f01, f02 etc... copy these folders, and then clean out the extra DB files that are in there, and you have your music back. if you play the files in WMP, it will give you the name of the song, but if you try to put it back into itunes without first renaming it, then it will be imported with the weird 4 letter name, which to my knowledge has nothing to do with the name of the song, ot or anything to do with it at all, i think it is just a randomly chosen letter sequence (1,048,576) how many compinations of 4 letters you can have i think.

or you can re-rip your cd's what ever floats your boats,
