Hi all! So, here we go.
This thread is a poll of the 6 major presidential candidates as per
http://www.vote-smart.org/election_president.php.
I encourage you all to cast your vote to show support for your candidate, whomever it might be.
In this thread, no discussion please. If you would like to show support for your candidate of choice, make a post of simply a + and their name.
Example:
+ Obama
If you want to have some political discussion, risk your own thread...

I'll be there.

*Keeping in New Posts*
*Necessary, I think, since people are encouraged to vote and NOT post here*

Actually, I don't think political discussions are allowed here. But I'm not sure since I haven't read the rules in a looong time.

Generally these kinds of conversations are considered something that are better done in the many, many other political forums around the Internet. Keep it civil or it gets removed.

Honestly I prefer disscussing everything with like minded individuals. I like to think developers are some of the smartest people on the planet, due to our unique requirements everytime we solve problems. Were constantly improving at the speed of the technology, it doesn't get more demanding than that.
Anyways the point is...I rarely go to political sites or physchology sites or whatever my interest might be...I'd much prefer to hear a developers opinion, advice, etc...
About the only advice I would seek on a programming site is that about broken hearts and/or love, cause I figure the majority of you all are about as single as I am.

Obama is such an elitist..he should be more like an average American like McCain with his 10 cars, 8 houses and private jet.
I really love living in a society with some socialist elements. I pay my national insurance contributions (about £200 ($322) a month out of the £2000 ($3214) i earn). For that I get a basic state pension, heavily subsidised prescriptions and healthcare. I know I'm going to get help and get treated for free without some insurance company trying to screw me over and essentially killing me. I don't have to worry.
The health system in the UK isn't perfect. But it's 20 places above the United States according to the WHO..and it's Free and you have the choice to go to a private health provider too if you like.
I see nothing wrong with taxing those who earn a comfortable living more..at all. I'm in the second highest income tax bracket (I think) and I don't mind, when I inevitably hit the highest tax bracket, I again won't complain.
Americans need to understand that socialism isn't communism. Communism is socialism. Just like Apple is a fruit but not all fruit is apples.
I'm not anti-American at all. Don't misinterpret this post. I'm just showing the merits of 'spreading the wealth around' a bit.
Sure you guys need to think about protecting your country, but you need to keep your country worth protecting...

I voted for one I've never heard of, on purpose. Hate politics and can't stress how much I'm fed up of reading about the U.S. election in the British press.

Why am I the only McCain supporter? The next four years are going to suck if Obama gets elected. Obama doesn't have enough experience to fill a shot glass. And if what Biden predicted comes true, it's really going to suck.

Because since the Democrats left office just 8 short years ago:
The US government has gone from a $700b surplus to a $0.5trillion defect.
Private sector job creation has gone down 85%.
5,000,000 people have fallen into poverty.
7,000,000 more Americans are without health care.
Healthcare premiums have doubled.
MCCAIN 08!!!!!!!!!

Since the Democrats took Congress in 2006:
1) Consumer confidence plummet;
2) The cost of regular gasoline soar to over $3.50 a gallon;
3) Unemployment is up to 5% (a 10% increase);
4) American households have seen $2.3 trillion in equity value evaporate (stock and mutual fund losses);
5) Americans have seen their home equity drop by $1.2 trillion dollars;
6) 1% of American homes are in foreclosure.

It's happened since they became in control.

The consequences of actions sometimes take a few years to come into effect.
Clinton ran a great presidency, left your country with a HUGE surplus and Bush has run your great nation into the ground in 8 years.
