Why is it mind blowing? It's predictable...like all patterns in mathematics...It's interesting...but mind blowing? Mind blowing...is something you save for great $3X or something uncomprehensible/undescribable...like falling from a 300 story building and landing on your head and walking away without a scratch... :P

Cheers,
Alex

There are two types of people in this world. Those who realize that prime numbers are mind blowing, and those who don't.

<3 Primes. :D

The study of prime numbers is part of number theory, the branch of mathematics which encompasses the study of natural numbers. Prime numbers have been the subject of intense research, yet some fundamental questions, such as the Riemann hypothesis and the Goldbach conjecture, have been unresolved for more than a century.
You must be holding some breakthrough theories if you are able to predict everything about it

It is interesting because the theory would tend to suggest all our other numbers are just factors of the "special" prime #s. Noone has quite understood how they are special, why they form the patterns that they form. Perhaps a new theory of mathematics has been being conceived for the past several thousand years.. You do realize at some point a bunch of people had to get together and prove the concept of zero exists, I'm sure there were people that questioned them saying it was un-interesting at the time. Indeed the fact that it forms these patterns is the mind blowing part about it.

If you read through the 3rd and 4th pages of the number spirals site I think your mind will be blown as well :P All matter in our universe clumps together into low entropy, numbers allow us to model and understand this.. whenever there is a pattern in the numbers its usually a very profound mystery waiting to be explained that will reveal something spectacular about nature itself

For instance take the comments on digg

"The primes only image does look like an image of the magnetic filed around earth, being forced by the solar wind." [ Maybe the number spiral is what drives magnetic fields ... ]

"Wow... Makes me think of the Carl Sagan book Contact. If we start making these spirals and go further and further out, will we find a message someday built into the very fabric of the universe?"
