WTH?

Post by alex.barylski »

I thought this was quite comical...and oddly flattering. :P

http://www.a1hostweb.com/show-script-de ... cript=2256

Apparently they are experts:
A1HostWeb.com have a huge amount of experience in providing web space for pcspectra texocms sites. Our technical support team are experts in pcspectra texocms and you can always rely on its professional and friendly assistance.
Funny cause I wasn't even aware anyone even used it other than me many moons ago. :P

Does anyone really fall for such horrible advertising? When the author says its a dead fish...isn't that enough reason to not use it?

Cheers,
Alex

The words 'huge' and 'amount' kill the fish for me. And I don't even like fish. :|

simple check says it goes from 251 to 9915. That's 9665 seemingly unique pages! Although, of course I didn't read through them all to look for duplicates. Anything else show errors and a simple web host page.

What a Mickey Mouse operation. :D They didn't even have the common decency to stick the page variable somewhere else.

Arg! Things like this drive me nuts.

My web hosting company's service went down recently, so I called them. While on hold, I happened to notice that there was a giant typo in a prominent place on their front page. The typo was in the sentence that claimed that they were the BEST. Let me repeat that. The typo was in the sentence that said, "We are the best."

When the guy finally came on the phone, I couldn't help but say, "And by the way, there's a giant typo in the sentence that says 'We're the best!' on your homepage. You might want to change that."

I don't think he appreciated it or cared too much, and I guess I can't really blame him. But it's those little things that count.

Oh, did I mention that I'm a writer? :)

This is a good example of exactly why a bad "culture" in a company can rot it from the inside out, and why you should always try to be a good listener ;-)

You can read my web site and correct any spelling mistakes you can find...and best of all...I will appreciate those recommendations...and better still I won't even charge you for your time... :P

What does that have to do with anything?

Spelling mistakes drive me nutts too, although I am guilty of more spelling mistakes than your average person...I can pick out spelling errors in others work much easier than I can my own...cuz I guss spel cheking my own work isn't as important. :P

Hehe, I shouldn't be too quick to judge, though. PCSpectra was kind enough to PM me just now to let me know that I had a spelling error in my own signature. (Thanks for not publicly humiliating me, PCSpectra!)

After I got over my mortification, it just goes to show that we can all be morons at one time or another... It's easy for our eyes to skip over mistakes when we know what it's supposed to say... :)
