Magazine Subscriptions

Post by JAB Creations »

I finally decided to subscribe to two magazines I read on a regular basis which are Maximum PC and Wired. I've been a little unimpressed with Maximum PC of late (though my general hardware skill is relatively high to begin with) but what disappointed me of late was how thin the January issue was...and how lacking the actual content was in the December issue. Any one else notice this too be it with the same or a different subscription?

What if any subscriptions do other people get?

I get Mountain Bike Action. Not really tech I suppose.
Real programmers don't comment their code. If it was hard to write, it should be hard to understand.

I only get Rolling Stone, and I am usually pretty happy with it although they suckered me into getting it in the first place (I forgot to uncheck a box when ordering tickets on TicketMaster or something). They recently switched to a standard magazine format (from a wider, newspaperish kind of thing). Not lacking in content as far as I can tell.

I'm considering subscribing to this. Would you recommend it?

Yes. I like it. There's always a couple of interesting articles in it. It's a mix of php news, news on open source projects, but also a lot of in dept articles about programming, OOP, design patterns, security, etc
And it costs only like $30/yr.
