I used to work with textpad, but a couple of years ago I switched to PDT for Eclipse, and I'm more than happy with it

Hmm ok maybe I really should try UltraEdit, too many people have recommended itApollo wrote:+1PCSpectra wrote:UltraEdit is the best IMHO.
Very light weight, highly configurable.
Another big UltraEdit fan here!
How is that different than: http://www.eclipseplugincentral.com/ ?VladSun wrote:The main advantage is that it is a platform. So ... http://plugins.netbeans.org/PluginPortal/
I just bought ASUS EEE PC 904HD and I installed Xubuntu on it -- so I am looking for Linux IDEs and Netbeans seems cool and it ever works on my netbookVladSun wrote:I knew someone would say this
It's true that nowadays one should not expect some extraordinary features from an IDE, which do not present in any other IDE.
I found working with Netbeans IDE a pleasure. I've tried with every editor/IDE mentioned in this thread, but they simply didn't make me feel comfortable. I know it is very subjective and most probably it will appear that I'm the only one voting for Netbeans
Another thing that is important for me is that only a few of mentioned here software run both on Windows and Linux OS - so, I have a only a few to choose from.

That's the reason why there are as many editors as there are programmers. And why "Disappointed with editor X" threads are so uninformative, yet 99% of programmers agree with the title.VladSun wrote:I found working with Netbeans IDE a pleasure.
