I don't know if it's so much a matter of being objective or not...I posted an answer earlier, but after a while I deleted it - I realized that "Why Linux Still Sucks & how to improve it!" was not the discussion I was willing to participate in.
JAB - I'm a happy Windows user since 3.1 (not to mention DOS ... hm, I don't remember - the version before 5.0) and I'm also a happy Linux (Slackware and Debian) user since 2003 year. So - who is more objective - you or me? Just because you still don't know anything about using Linux (I can see it from your posts) doesn't make it "it sux!".
I think these discussions are mostly driven by frustration. JAB is clearly not interested in learning the ins and outs of Linux, which no one can really blame him for. Windows does do a great job and making a computer easy to use, at least easier than Linux.
After using Windows for as long as many of us have we become spoiled by some aspects only to be disappointed by others.
Just now IE crashed (assumingly because of the Google toolbar -- which when loaded slows the startup to a 15 second lapse).
It irritates me when software crashes or acts in ways that are no expected, this is what usually drives most people to seek alternative solutions. So we find them, like FireFox and use that instead, until one day that otherwise perfect peice of software does something unexpected and the cycle continues.
There will never be perfect software -- in our life time anyway.
Cheers,
Alex
