Delete OP post after replies: your thoughts?

Post by JAB Creations »

I needed a break from my latest project and have been desiring to implement moderation tools to the blog and forums I've already created.

I'm curious as to what others think: if you make an OP and someone replies, should you be allowed to delete your original post? If so what do you think should happen to the thread?

I have some[/i[ ideas though I'd like to hear the logic of others first please. :)

A post should not be "deletable" after it had been answered. Though anyone could edit his OP and replace its content ...

That is what I was originally thinking and so I agree with you. I think only a mod or higher should be able to delete an entire thread.

What about editing? Perhaps I could implement a 'recant' option where the thread's OP is recanted, like an edit but it simply puts a generic placeholder text proclaiming that the original poster has recanted the post?
