PHP in South Africa - Does it exist?

Post by mooberry »

I am a PHP programmer from South Africa, where practically every corporate is using Microsoft solutions for their interenet needs. I am curious to know whether there are any SA PHP developers around this forum, or whether anyone knows anything about PHP in this country?

Hi Mooberry,

I am a PHP developer from SA, but currently in London, yes Php does exist in SA.

There are lots of companies that are getting annoyed or cannot afford the high cost of the Windows Server software and licences and so are going open source, you've just got to look for them.

Good luck in the search to find one.

I'm a PHP developer, originally from SA but currently in the UK. There's a few people with SA listed as their location registered on the boards so PHP must exist there to a certain extent.

Come to Cape Town. It's the best. I may love my country, but screw the rest of SA.

I was suprised at the number of South Africans on here. Usually the SA folk stay within the national boundaries as far as the internet is concerned. Are there anybody from Cape Town who's interested in starting a php information group. I just started on it about two days ago, and i'm still stuck with getting the damn thing to work for Christs sakes.

And yes, i was surprised at the number of firms operating with php, but i don't know if it's for development other than web pages. I see that companies mostly use php to start 'phorum' discussion groups about their companies. Now that's one lame idea...
