Hi
I am a programmer from Australia. I have been coding (Fortran, PASCAL, Basic, C, C++) in the past 26 or so years and am have been coding PHP/Mysql for websites in the last 3-4 years.
I have used linux exclusively for the last 5 years.
I am interested in computer graphics and use the GIMP, Povray (kpovmodeler), Inkscape and am just trying to learn Blender to do animation.
I also play guitar (classical, folk, blues etc)
Lots of love to all the coders out there.
It is great to find such a great forum.

My name is Obadiah...lol...no....its not just a weird screen name i had a mean mom
....anyways im 25 and originally from Staten Island NY, but now i reside in the lovely blue grass hic town of KY...i just recently got in to php, and stumbled into the boards here a while ago and found it to be quite helpful and unlike other boards everyone seems to be more focused on helping instead of bragging about what they know or getting impatient by a "newb question" and even better everyone seems to have their own sense of humor....exellent boards!

I'm sorry, but if you read the forum rules, you will see that humor is strictly forbidden here.Obadiah wrote:i just recently got in to php, and stumbled into the boards here a while ago and found it to be quite helpful and unlike other boards everyone seems to be more focused on helping instead of bragging about what they know or getting impatient by a "newb question" and even better everyone seems to have their own sense of humor....exellent boards!

I just joined up yesterday and i live in the greatest state ever with Dorothy and the Wizard. Some jack off in a 4wheel drive ran over toto tho. Poor little guy didnt even see it coming. Tinman got traded in for a robot which is way better and doesnt get all rusty and whine a lot. The scare crow caught fire one too many times and we got tired of putting him out. Who knows why a lion was running free so he got locked up at the zoo. I think Dorothy took one to many hits of Acid cuz she still swears he can talk. And as far as the flying monkeys go the last i heard they moved to Canada to form a band. I think it was called Bare Naked Ladies or something.
Anyways enough of my ramblings. I just started PHP like 2 weeks ago out of necessity really. My expertise lies in graphic design, color theory, layout, and all that fun stuff. The old brain isnt really good for processing logic statements. But my business partner fired the Database Admin. right in the middle of a big project so i had to fill his shoes too. I like to try and keep up on my knowledge of coding to some extent so im not one of those designers that doesnt have a clue about what is feasible and or practical for the web. First programer i ever worked with was a short pudgy pale guy that complained all the time. I know not all programers are short pudgy pale guys but this dude fit the stereotype like it was a latex jump suit talored just for him. So i learned right away i better at least learn about coding to some degree.
Well thats why im here i dont understand PHP and need help and this forum popped up first in my google search. Must mean its popular and the designers know a thing or two about getting indexed.
later all...hope this turns out to be one hell of a great forum to be on.
