Greetings!
I'm new here, and just beginning to get my feet wet with PHP in my continuing web-education... I'm here to learn, and love good advice, so if you know of a good book on Amazon that you'd recommend, please help a brother out! I'm a graphic artist / designer for some 12 years now using all the standard software, and am now venturing beyond HTML / CSS... I'm also a musician, so click the links in my signature if you wanna check out some local Orlando METAL...
Thanks, and cheers!

hello.
I'm a Web developer from a design background, very amateur-ish PHP programmer (a fact which is substantially reinforced every time I post a query to this outstanding community). I'm a partner in a Web/Multimedia development company based in Lakewood, Colorado.
My business partner is a crazy-talented Lingo programmer, but neither of us had much experience with database-driven Web development until about 2 years ago.
I've been building Web sites since '97, so that shows how much I resisted becoming a "programmer".
My first few "dynamic" Web sites, I used ColdFusion, but I've increasingly turned to PHP, because some good friends were big proponents of it, the whole open-source thing, and communities like this one! We always use MySQL, except for one site which used Access, which was a big mistake.
I still do most of the interface design/development myself. I consider myself an expert HTML/CSS coder, and I'm gradually getting better at the PHP/MySQL thing. I have actually pulled off some pretty good JOIN queries this week (thanks in no small part to tips from this forum), of which I'm very proud.
And which I'm sure many here would find retarded or hopelessly basic.
When I'm not working, I'm helping my wife with our two daughters, playing guitar, playing hockey, obsessing about politics.
