Introductions
Howdy,
I am the illustrious Reverend Dexter, KSC. Well, maybe not so illustrious. I am new to the PHP world, having recently been spawned from the world of academia with my BS in CIS. CIS means that I can write "hello world" in about 14 different languages, but I didn't study any in depth, and I'm consequently suffering now that I'm employed and trying to actually write code that does stuff. I try to IM my coworker questions, but he just reiterates to come here (I hear it 10 times a day...). English is my [s]primary[/s] only spoken language, but that won't stop me from mangling it every so often.
You'll probably notice a distinct Javanese accent in my PHP. Feel free to slap me about for it.
Fun Fact: I'm currently sitting about 10' to the right of <name drop> Ninja Space Goat </name drop>.

Welcome to the community. Any friend of Ninja's is probably his only one, but still, at least you will find some help here.

Wow! So far I've been everywhere but here on the board, so I thought I'd introduce myself.
If you haven't guessed yet, my name is smudge. Like a smear, stain, etc. I'm still in high school, but I'm part of the elite group of students who knows more than HTML or CSS. Unfortunately, that's only, umm... (thinking...1...2...) maybe 3 people. 2 including me
By my reckoning, now that the senior class is gone, I'm #1.
Anyway, I'm here to help, learn, and be helped in my quest for PHP-ness
Glad to meet all of you, and glad to help.

Hehe. Thanks to DevNet, I think in that mentality all the time.smudge wrote:Only #1 in my school. I'm still learning here.Did you know, I just read one random post, and learned you could access characters in a string by $str[x]? I did not know that before the other day, but, you know what they say, you learn something new everyday!

Well, I've been here for too long, and only just made a return after about 4-5yrs.
I started programming PHP around '99 or '00 (I remember using some servers back then still on PHP/FI 2.0)
Not long before that, probably about a year I started doing C++, got into that a fair bit, no where near as much now, I mainly just code web-based things.
And then before that I originally got into programming on an old Amstrad dont remember what model it was, one of the hard 3" disk series. From then on in I've been into programming.
I could blab on more, but thats enough.
EDIT: I'm single and looking for hot girls into PHP located in NSW, Australia

Hi!
I'm 20 years old, and just started learning php 2 days ago. I know enough to be dangerous already thanks to my experience with Java and C++. I'm very fluent in html, css, and fairly fluent in javascript. I'm currently developing my own web design business and the next step in that is learning php! I've been programming various things since I was about 10, and I'm currently persuing a major in computer science at Purdue University. I love programming so much it's almost pathetic.... I was up till 12:30am last night reading php documentation
.
In the 3 hours that I've spent browsing this forum, I've learned at least as many new things that will help my coding immensely. So, I'm going to stick around and hopefully get to know the community. You guys seem to be very knowledgable and as a super plus... you can spell the word "you"! Internet speak really agravates me.
Also, I'm willing to help with any xhtml, css, or javascript questions/problems. I've been using those three languages long enough to have run into a lot of the common problems, and several of the more obscure ones. Also also, I love design work. Shaping and planning a website is almost as much fun for me as writing the actual code.
So, hey! I'm glad to be here.

p.s. Oh yeah, and the extra nice thing about this forum? My workplace doesn't block it. heheh
