I'm Jonah Dahlquist.
I started...actually, I'll start at the beginning, as the beginning wasn't that far back...
Long, long ago (1 3/4ths year) in a galaxy far, far away (washington state)...
I started on computers when I accidentally destroyed the AC outlet on my dad's laptop. He got it fixed for $200. He gave me the computer. Later, I discovered the internet. A vast span of endless information, provided by countless people who had learned from this span of endless information. I am now one of those people...
My dad bought me a domain name, where I setup a website, offering web/graphic design. I later made a flash site out of it. Just recently, I've put a blog on my website, and am now, not only one of the people that have learned from the vast span of endless information (with Much more to go,) but I'm now one of the people who provide some information, so that others may learn from the vast span of...

Introducing PublicPIM
Good Morning,
I am James M.Orr and I am the author of the ontology promoted at http://www.opendb.org which is for the development of a Common Database Structure that can be used with any Database.
We have allways used a Personal Information Manager concept because a majority of applications use at least some of the information in PIMs.
Our design approach is that additional Tables and joins can be used to expand the functionality if needed by a particular application.
PublicPIM Website Database Applicationis our freeware product developed with Javeline framework over a MySQL database that we have listed at well over 600 websites and has received a good response from the IT public. We have an indicator that emails us when it has been installed at a website only so we know how many sites might be installing and for no other purpose.
Our problem I believe is that people are reluctant to upload working applications to their websites because of the proliferation of spam bandits and that ilk.
I would like to strike up an interest on this forum to discuss how to overcome this reluctence to use what I believe is a first as there are hundreds of products that allow you to create databases for websites but very few who offer a completely expandable application 'Ready to Go'.
I would appreciate any feedback as to what catagory anyone feels this should be put under.
Best Regards,
James M.Orr

Re: Identify Yourself!
Hello, I'm Agirre from the smoking Netherlands. I live in a small town near Amsterdam.
I started programming (HTML mostly) about 7 years ago, since 5 years I am busy with PHP also. Two years ago I sold my own website (which was crappy coded, but maintained by a bunch of fantastic guys), and after that I did not finish another, although I started a thousand times.
But, I'm currently working on a kind of Soccer CMS and I've good hope I will finish this one. Got some pages of this site bookmarked, and because of some questions I decided to register.

Re: Identify Yourself!
Hi
I'm James Ravenscroft, a student from the UK. I program in PHP, C++, C#, Java and (I know I'm sorry) python.
my first language was PHP I started using it 3 years ago. I enjoy playing music on my saxophone, chilling with my friends and programming. I'd rather write a video game than play one!

Hi James, dont worry: python's cool.
I think The Ninja Space Goat <3's the py, some others (myself included) are getting frisky with Ruby, and there's a smattering of lots more languages here and there.
Welcome to PHPDN!
