Wow, my very first post as I make my first appearance in the coding world...

*wipes the newborn slime from body and looks around in her new world*

The following will roughly establish my age...
I Majored in Computer sciences when in school, graduating with extra post ed creds. (about the time when the mac was introduced.)
I then traveled internationally a lot, and for several years didn't touch a computer. Got back into them, but by that time the internet was well established 8O , and everything I knew before was now completely useless for me. :banghead: (pascal? is that ever used anymore?)
So, I took it upon myself to teach myself the foreign concept of internet protocol and languages (took me no time for HTML) and started back into primitive programming for website design.
Slowly over the years I have been able to fine-tune my skills, and had introduced myself to various languages, but then dropped the whole coding world for a few years when I got into the graphic world and became a Photoshop junkie. (still have yet to teach myself Flash...) but now I am back into the coding world. The one that I am liking the most and want to hone my skills with is PHP with MySQL. I remember about 6 years ago stating to myself (where ASP was everywhere) that PHP is the language of the future (and maybe I am a bit biased with my whole 'Open Source / Share the Knowledge' mentality)
It sure has changed since I first had a gander at it.
I have some special skills in other fields that I might be able to help with. (Dreamweaver 4 -> CS3 ... Same thing with Photoshop (8 through CS3)

Please to meet you!

Hey All,
Name is David Mackey. I run InformedNetworker.com, a website for Information Technology Professionals that utilizes LAMP and Pligg CMS. I currently am employed as a Network Engineer and most of my development experience has been .NET based, but I'm jumping into PHP now.
David.

Hi,

I'm Cyndi, a PHP newbie, and I've had some great successes with plugging pre-written PHP programs (like forums, password pages, logins) into my websites. It makes SO MUCH SENSE! Also, it's great that so many smart people came along and figured out how to do the hard stuff in the first place.

I'm looking forward to learning from you guys! (I do a lot of reverse-engineering without understanding exactly what I'm doing or why it works, so bear with me, please!)

On a personal note, I'm a webmistress living near Silicon Valley, CA, and I work independently because of this new "mommyhood" thing that I stepped in about 4 years ago. When I get AFK, it's mostly trips to the park, preschool, and camping/hiking, lounging at the beach, grocery shopping, paying too much for gas, etc.. You'll usually find me lurking online in the wee hours (after little girl's bedtime) or during naptime.

Great to be here!

Howdy, I'm a LAMP dev from the LA, SoCal area. I've been doing PHP for about 10 years now off and on. I started out doing design and once I realized that my designs couldn't do much and got frustrated with people arguing about colors, I slowly learned PHP one function at a time. I now work full time for a web company in SoCal. When I'm not programming, I enjoy long walks on the beach... err.. wrong forum. Anywho, I'm glad to be here (finally). I look forward to conversing with you all.

Hi All,

I'm just a plain and simple PHP programmer in an IT company here in the Philippines.
I've been using php for 7 months, give or take a few days =)

Still relatively new in PHP and I always find myself looking for answers here in the net or by asking officemates.
