heh... i run and own EvilWalrus.com (obviously). I have quite a few projects on the side, and have been programming PHP since the early 3.0-beta days (about 4 1/2 years now)... I'm proficient in PHP, VB, and various low-level languages, and siginificant others? NONE. They're just a distraction to my dedication to the community.

okay, been here for a while now, so time to spill the beens.
I'm 24 on the 9th October (2003), and i live in York, UK.
Been into computing all my life through my dad, but only got into web design/development when i was about 15. Designed a few websites for myself for a few years just to get practice, but never did any serious coding.
At this time, my thing at school was Graphic Design. Passed at 'A' Level and then went onto college to study a foundation course in Art and Graphic Design with the intention of heading off to uni to do Graphic Design.
At the end of that course, i had decided that i wanted to to a Design course, but in the field of web design since i had enjoyed doing it in my spare time.
I ended up at Huddersfield University studying BA(hons) Multimedia Design.
At the begining of my second year there, i was head hunted by a Design & Advertising Agency who wanted a web designer, so i took the job and left univeristy.
That was 3 years ago and i am still in the same job, but have changed roles from designer to lead developer.
PHP is my main thing, but i know a moderate amount about lots of other languages.
Other info: Im definately not a workaholic, as soon as i leave the office i forget about work and head out clubbing and gererally getting up to the usual drunken tom-foolery
I love Hip-Hop with a little bit of RnB thrown in when i want to chill out.
I go to the gym 5 times a week, so i will be the Schwarzenegger of the PHP world by this time next year
yeah right.
Anyway, thats me.
Single and making the most of it.....oh yes!
Mark

Ok, as I thought, I'm the oldest person on this Forum! Damn, damn, damn!
I'm a 41 year old from Dublin, Ireland. I've been running a small web dev company since about 1997/8 (seems like forever but at least we're still here!). Company's called 9th Square (I dunno what it means either, ask the branding people!). Mainly been using ColdFusion
and recently decided I'd better have a goo at PHP and yes, it's cool and I'm merrily building a new personal/business site with it and my team are (entheusiastically?) rolling up their sleeves and opening their minds to it.
Getting married later this year to an amazing girl with lousy taste in men. I've had the middle-aged sportscar and sold it and am now commuting on a 250 Honda scooter to work (how predicatable) and I love it. I've been programming since the computer was invented (ok maybe not since Babbage or even Napier) and I really enjoy it but have NEVER improved. Programming is the only way I know to pursue my passion for meeting millions of different people doing millions of different things all of them really interesting. That's what keeps ME interested. This is a great forum and thanks to all who've helped with my code so far and in the future.
It is not enough for a handful of experts to attempt the solution of a problem, to solve it and then to apply it. The restriction of knowledge to an elite group destroys the spirit of society and leads to its intellectual impoverishment. --Albert Einstein

I'm a 16 year old, Junior in highschool, from Vermont, USA.
My family has had a computer before I can even remember and I have always liked playing with it. I still remember the day me and my dad upgraded the first computer we had from 16mb RAM to 32mb. And with a 1gig harddrive and a 233mhz Pentium it was a great computer.
Learned HTML when I was 13 and just started PHP in May. It's been about 5 months now and I have learned a ton. I have also been working with C++ for about 2 years now but nothing too advanced. Knowing a little C++ made learning PHP very easy.
I have made around 5 or 6 personal websites and am now working on a PHP site for a friend. Sometime I should start charging people for my work
but for now I'm just doin it for fun. I'm thinking about a career in CS possibly and am also interested in 3d Modeling, Texturing and Animation.
Oh yeah, I play bass too.

Hi!
I'm a 23 year old from Gothenburg, Sweden currently in the process of becoming an engineer in Information Teknology at Chalmers University of Technology.
I've been a member (not a very active one but still) of phpforums since 28 Sept. 2002.
my programming days started with Basic, and then QBasic and soon I moved on to Pascal. None are very good languages I must say...
in '96 I started learning html and soon became interested in javascript, which has come to be one of my largest passions in programming. Some does not consider javascript to be a very advanced language, but there are some very advanced features that could be made. OO javascript is the way to go.
'99 I started with php and found it very nice, however I knew nothing of its capabilities.
Now I consider myself a quite experienced php:er, but still I have a lot to learn. If anybody is interested in learning about OO javascript, just send me a message.
Cheers,
//Anders (cybaf) Fredriksson

Hello Every One.....
I'm Abdul Mannan, I am currently a student of BS 7th semeter in SZABIST Islamabad(Pakistan). PHP is mainly for fun outside of University for Internship projects.
When I'm not working or coding for fun, I probably like to play cricket and watch tv.
I'll most often answer threads that involve network security and OOP.
Regards.

Well, here goes...
35 years old (I think, I can't count after using up all my fingers and toes). Living in the West of England, though born in France.
Got my first computer at the age of 13, a 16K ZX Spectrum. Learnt to program in BASIC, Pascal, COBOL (not all on the Spectrum!).
At university I wrote a text adventure game for the Sinclair QL which sold about 100 copies, thus keeping me in beer money for a short while.
After university, didn't know what to do so thought "let's give computing a try, could be a laugh". Ended up coding AS/400's for a major UK bank, then moved to another bank (in Essex, hi Mac!) and coded in SQLWindows on Win3.11 and Smalltalk on OS/2 2.x.
Currently working as a consultant (sorry) doing mostly MS technologies, but have become the unofficial "other technologies" guy. Currently using PHP, XHTML and MySQL to build a multiplayer version of a 1984 ZX Spectrum game. Yes, I too am a geek. Or as my wife calls me, the "Arch-Nerd".
Running XP, Linux and eComstation (OS/2 for the new millenium) at home.
My two young daughters keep me young too, and also keep me away from my shiny new PC. Probably a good thing.
I play the guitar so badly that I am not allowed to do so when others are present. Oh, and I've finished Zelda, Ocarina of time. Twice.
I couldn't think of a catchy user name, so I went for my own.
