I saw this thread for the first time today and thought I would go with the flow...

My name is Casey and I'm from Indiana where I graduated from ISU with a degree in Information Technology back in 2007. During my time there, I had been interning as a web designer mainly for local non-profits using PHP and other common technologies associated with "web stuff." When I graduated, I accepted a job offer from a financial firm programming in COBOL-2 using JCL and other various dusty things. It was a 180-degree change that never kept pace with the demand. I lost it after a year and despite the fact that I miss the money, I'm ever-so-happy I lost the job--it was a living hell unparalleled in any conceivable magnitude.

After looking for work in Indiana for almost 4 or 5 months thereafter, I decided to re-attend ISU to initially major in English Composition with a minor in Creative Writing (another B.S.). Going through this experience, however, I came to the conclusion that an "internal calling" was too loud to ignore amidst my passion of writing stories: I'm planning on being accepted for a Masters program in Clinical Mental Health Counseling within a year. It's quite the change, right? I think it will fetch amazing results in the end as Indiana has more job opportunities in that field versus the PHP arena (despite the fact that plenty of websites and companies here could definitely use someone of my meager skill set--unfortunately, nobody really has the resources to hire a guy like me due to other priorities or simple priority ignorance). Whatever the case, I believe there's way more to life then sitting in front of a computer all day, but for those of you who do this so frequently with such amazing grace, I truly admire you!

Regardless, all through this fantastical tale of perilous intrigue and chaotic circumstances, PHP will be both a hobby and a tool to take advantage of potential job leads if and when they ever surface (and if I'm capable enough to do the work :) ). Otherwise, I plan on minimizing my EditPlus3 window in order to help people deal with their childhood traumas garnered through too many hours of bedtime Poe and "A Cask of Amontillado".

Introduction? Certainly.

My name's Jarrod and I spend most of my day making PHP play nicely with .NET. I also fight an eternal war against PHP trying to turn it into a truly object-oriented programming language (though really, I love PHP more than I do .NET - strange, isn't it?) and I experiment (probably more than I should) with custom framework architectures.

Well as you can tell my user name I'm a NASCAR fan. I'm currently in my second year getting a degree in Computer Security and Management, once I get that I intend to go get my masters. I have taught myself everything I know so far, I just need the stupid degree to make it official :p But yeah other then that, I'm just your normal person who enjoys programming.
