Hello All!
My handle is Drivetrain, but feel free to call me "DT". I received a BS in animation in 2008, and have been a Flash designer for a few years now. I was recently laid off, and I've decided to increase my coding skill set in an attempt to make myself more valuable in the job market, but have been able to make it only so far on my own. Although I do have a bit of AS2 knowledge, I consider myself a beginner in both AS2 and PHP (I have not yet made the jump to AS3).
As far as PHP goes, I compare myself to a kindergartener who can recite his ABC's, but doesn't really know what they mean...I can "copy" my name and recognize it, and can read at a "See Dick Run" level. In other words, I've been able to "swipe" bits of code from various locations on the web, and modify them to meet my needs, but I couldn't write most of them from scratch if my life depended on it, and that's why I'm here...
I'm planning to learn from the tutorials and forums, and hopefully find friends who would be willing to help me over some of the rough spots as I attempt to wrap my head around PHP / MySQL and Flash AS2 / AS3 coding.
I don't expect someone to do the work for me, and I don't expect something for nothing. I am more than happy to share my Flash design experience with anyone interested. Just drop me a line if you're having an issue, and I'll see what I can do to help!
Well, that's about it in a nutshell!
I'm off to look through the forums for answers before I post my first question!
Cheers!
