I'm Jason, I'm 28, happily married and employed.

I head from Vancouver, BC -- funny how so many PHP forum members are from Canada... must be something in the beer.

I've been programming since as long as I can remember. Started into the computer manuals as soon as I could read them. I program in PHP, most flavours of basic, shells scripts and whatever else seems fashionable this year.

I try to do graphics design -- although I am not much of an artist... I know my way around photoshop and flash :twisted:

My main website is http://www.realtransactions.com <-- shameless plug. Needs some work; but it does the trick.

I have a day job in healthcare -- fixing about 300 servers and supporting thousands of clients... I don't program (other than shell scripts and dB's) at work -- when I am there it's hardware and technical time -- it's nice to work in a job that you love.

Other than that I ride the fat snow on the slopes, hit the trails on my mountain bike and enjoy life with my various friends and family.

I'm 15 and I am from New York

I started php sometime last september, and I learned alot since then, PHP is my first real language (unless you count Ti-Basic ), and since then I've learned a small bit of perl.

My current project (and only real project I've had so far) is a CMS for the website Gamecatcher. Thanks to it I learned all about classes and sessions plus a ton of other things.

Hello, my name is Joe. I'm new here but not new to PHP - been using it for about 2 years along with a myriad of other lanuages including C++. I'm 18.5 years old and I just graduated from high school. I am currently trying to start my own software developement company so that I can make a little extra profit on the side of my real job. (Convenience store clerk won't get you far, will it?! :roll: )

Well, that's just a brief intro to my life; don't be afraid to PM me if you have any questions! ;)

Hey I am Dan, I am a total newb to all scripting apart from a little experience with IRC. I an 15 and currently a student at high school. I enjoy learning new stuff as long as it will help in the future. Obviously I am not a programmer but I wish to get into PHP.

Started doing PHP in January of this year :P .. I've been doing C/C++ for several years (professionally). For the last 3 years I was working in the video game industry making PC games. For the 6 years before that, I did web design and development as a freelancer.

My name is James, im 18, im from miami, right now im a college student thats going to major in electrical enginnering, I started html/css web designing 2 years ago. Started learning C/C++ programing september 2003 but left it once I found PHP in february of this year, easy transition. I also fix computers and good stuff like that for friends and people that ask.

I am also working on an online game project using php/mysql, flash and any other things(?) that i might have to use to accomplish this project so that I can learn a lot more about php and making websites in general so i can do jobs on the side for money.

Code: Select all

<?php
$college_student = "no money";
?>

Hello

Post by frank3 »

Hi and hello to all.

My name is Frank Parks. I live in North central Oklahoma, USA.

New to PHP. Not new to programming. I can program my VCR in about 3 or 4 minutes. (The microwave oven takes a little longer)

I'm an affiliate marketer, not a coder. I make websites that shoppers come to to find stuff to buy. My mall site has grown so large that upkeep is a real headache.

An associate suggested that I develope a database solution with PHP/MySql. So, the long steep learning curve began about two months ago. I have made a good start, four tables containing approx. 25k individual products with all the details that go with them.

Let's see....Age= you'll have to guess. Here is a clue. Does anyone remember 80 column cards, keypunch and verify, cobol?

Sex= You Bet!

Likes= Scotch Whiskey and Bluegrass music.

Dislikes= Politics in any form. And, long useless posts like this one.

My thanks to all for your helpful questions and answers.

Frank

Name: Mike
DOB: I try to forget. I just turned 31
Sex: M
Location: Phoenix AZ (used to live in East Meadow, LI)
PHPing since: I dont have a clue. Started heavy into it maybe 1.5-2 years ago when it was time to revamp the pocketlogger site.

I own digital tuning. (http://www.pocketlogger.com). We design and sell automotive related diagnostic hardware/software... I wrote the back end for the site in php and had someone else help with the layout and graphics.

I'm currently working on a site for a new idea I had, but I don't want to give out the url and have people messing with it until I'm ready for some testing. :)
