The Broken Demo Board at phpbb.com

The demo board at http://www.phpbb.com/demo/index.php has been returning this error message for what seems like quite a while now:
phpBB : Critical Error

Could not connect to the database
I wrote to them days ago to let them know, but I never heard back. Does anyone know what is going on there? Did the developers give up?

They are no longer using a demo board.

Try http://www.phpbb.com/phpbb/

It's the real thing, baby.

I think you misunderstood something.

"It's the real thing"? I think you misunderstood something somewhere.

1. Load http://www.phpbb.com/.

2. Click on the "Demo" link at the top of the page.

3. Click on "Click Here" in "Click Here to view the phpBB demo forum."

As you can see, the phpBB demo forum that is prominently featured on the phpBB web site for the purpose of demonstrating phpBB is down.

Also, the URL you provided (http://www.phpbb.com/phpbb/) results in a nice 404 error message:
Not Found
The requested URL /phpbb/ was not found on this server.
I believe what you wanted was http://www.phpbb.com/phpBB/, but that is still not what is linked to from the phpBB web site's demo page at http://www.phpbb.com/demo.php.

Right, misprint on my part.

http://www.phpbb.com/phpBB is the right address.

But now it doesn't matter, right? You know the devs didn't give up :)

You seem to be missing the point.

Whether or not there is a board running on the phpBB site does not change the facts that there is a broken one there too and that it is the one to which the demo links point.

can't access: phpbb.com/phpbb/
or: phpbb.com/phpbb (without trailing slash)

but

phpbb.com/phpBB was the right one...

i believe this is an error in URL REWRITE configuration,
but this problem has been too long to be corrected.

wonder why the did not add the rules for the all possiblity.

Dude, the demo took me right through. It is an HTML page, not a PHP page.

http://www.phpbb.com/admin_demo/index.htm

Went to 'Demo' from the home page and got to this page:

http://www.phpbb.com/demo.php

From there, I clicked on the Administrators Control Panel Demo link and went straight to the ACP demo.
