I read on the portal page that you wanna know what people think of this site. Here's my opinion...

I posted a query about php a coupla hours ago, and i had absolutely no response. Ten people viewed it, and ten people left.

Dudes, if you want this to be the php gateway, then try to give people a reason to sign up for Christs sakes. I certainly regret having put my highly marketable name on here....

Be nice y'all... Yes, no one responded to your initial question quickly. For that a lot of us are sorry.

I'm not a MS person; I have absolutely no experience with setting up PHP under Apache on MS platforms. So yes, I viewed your topic and didn't answer it.

However I thought you asked a good question and provided enoguh details that it looked like you had a clue, which is always a good thing and hoped someone else would come along with an answer.

However your opening post in this thread was definately something that would turn others off from helping you. Remember we are all volunteers; no one is entitled to an answer, especially a quick-turn around. I know most of my questions go hours to days without an answer. I doubt you would have gotten the RT_M reply if you had been less hostile in your opening post...

Um, this was my second post. But, i usually find that if your a total <span style='color:blue' title='I&#39;m naughty, are you naughty?'>smurf</span> jack arse, you get attention a whole lot quicker. God, if i hadn't posted this goddamn thread, i most probably would have waited another three months before people actually got around to so much as noticing my existance on here.

And what's up with the lack of communication. I find that if people actually communicate, the whole experience becomes fun, and people are more open to helping you. So thus i officially declare myself the topic starter, cause goddamit, if i don't do that, i might end up having regretted ever setting eyes upon the whole concept of php...

I've kept quite up to now, I did read your initial post and the subsequent comment on this thread and to be honest I feel that you are being rather unreasonable to the group.

I am not affiliated with PHPDN, I am just a user of this forum, and as such I choose to help those that are struggling to get to grips with the whole PHP experience.

I find your comments rather distasteful and shouldn't be expressed in such away, AFAIK (group correct me if I'm wrong) this is not PHP's official support site, nor is it's members the original writers of the PHP source (though there may some contributors).

I have only been a member for about 11 days now and I've feel I have helped quite a few people in that time, and hence the reason I chose to help you.

You started this thread pretty well, but because many users of this site are here voluntary then it's expected that you may not get a response as quick as you like. We are not front-line support for PHP developers and newbie’s.

Your attitude implies you are new to the internet of have no real understand of the electronic communities inhabiting it, for this reason people kind of give you a easy time, but not any more.

It's not our place to make you interested in PHP, that is for you to find, expecting people to jump to attention just because you have posted question is a little selfish, especially being a new user to the group.

There are some good people on this forum who (from reading past posts and being an active user for the past 11 days) are happy to help those that help themselves, sure the first step is for you to post a message but it's our prerogative not to reply, not because we are being hateful but because we may be busy with our actual lives.

Please, be nice, we are trying to help.

Regards,

You know what i really hate?? I really hate people's generalised statements of what they believe others to be based on their own need for what that person should be. Dude, i didn't get interested in php cause it sounded really fun. I got interested because of my knowldge of the internet and proggramming. I studied proggramming and i hated it and i failed quite disgracefully. This is the only time i found the concept to be of interest. To me, php made the whole concept of computer languages less robotic and more alive.

Now, you may not have heard of individual opinion, so you should see this as an individual opinion, free of the bias of collective thought. You sound like the kind of guy who prefers colective thought... cause it's so much safer and less hard. I'm not like you. I'm not gonna come here and say something and not mean it.

Now, i read on the front page that the developers wishes to turn this site into a popular internet destination for php developers. They cannot do that if you just sit there and play it safe. It's people like me that provides viable opinion and provides the developers a greater understanding of how to improve upon this site. If they listen to me, they'll benefit quite tremendously, because i am quite Goddamn smart. You may think this is my ego talking, but i'm just telling it like it is.

Why everybody is being so polite to you Liansky, is a mystery to me!

I have a couple of points to make:

1) For someone who's "quite Goddamn smart" you have a very misguided view of individual opinion. In your first post you stated the amount of people who viewed your post, and the amount of replies received; this is a fact, not an opinion. After that you just bitched.

2) Would you rather have 10 responses immediately, saying: "Sorry, I don't know what you're talking about!" or 1 response that may take a while, but end up being helpful? (This is not a trick question! I'm not trying to be smart, Einstein!)

3) I'm in London, and I think I can see your head from here.

4) If you use words like "Dude" then maybe you should expect to be ignored.

No 1: I stated a fact as to give weight to my opinion. Only the ignorant states an opinion without basing it on fact.

No2: Had i not started this post, then my initial post would have dissapeared and i would not have recieved an answer. Do the math.

No3: you might see over my head, but the Americans sits on yours...

No4: Dude, i use the word dude because i choose to be who i am. I am not like you people. I do not constantly try to watch what i say, just in case some of our most honourable members sees what i have said, and then goes to emphasize that i have used a word like dude, in an attempt to garner the false image of actual intellect for themselves. Either your smart, or your not. Using the word dude does not add validity to any argument. It only gives your opponent who might actually be smart, an idea of who you are, and then uses that idea and turns your own desire to look smart, on you. Oh, by the way, i'm not trying to sound smart... *giggles*...

Hi there Twiggle. See what i have done here?? I have stimulated conversation and opnion. And to think i'm only 22.... duuuuuude......
