My website is a company I own called Kansas Outlaw Wrestling. We are a professional wrestling organization yes you guesed it based in the state of Kansas in the United States and I consider myself almost a great MODERATE coder of html and css. So I designed a mockup in paint and then worked on my html and css off that. The theme of our company is based off the old western sort of with desperadoes and outlaws and the old saloons. Our colors are actually red black and white but I went a different way with the actual page color scheme.

How would you all critique my layout so far?
How would I improve/correct my drop down nav bar?
How do you feel about the color scheme I used?
How do you suggest I spruce up my content boxes?

Um, it looks odd in both IE8 and Firefox. Which browser have you used as reference when coding this?
When I design a site I usually browse the internet to get some new ideas. Depending on your restrictions, I try to create a color scheme based on originial colors of that company or whatever. But mostly when working with companies you already have a palette to work with.
But step 1 for you is to make it look readable in more than one browser...

i do what papa does when designing. browsing the internet is a great source of ideas. i created this layout:
http://img199.imageshack.us/img199/3355/design5.jpg before the client just up and stopped contacting me. i got a lot of the inspiration from other websites. i would have never thought about the patterns and color contrast without browsing other sites. im generally a terrible designer. i'd like to work directly with professional designers at some point and make something really super. this is a really cool website:

about the website. there are severe problems with the gutters. you should set some aesthetically pleasing margins and padding on all of these boxes. try adjusting the fonts to match the size of the margins and padding that can bring out pleasing, readable columns.
the colors kind of remind of me of the high contrast themes that came with windows 95 (please dont get offended lol), they are all very solid and contrast too much. it's in my face. i try to imagine that im mixing colors on an easel i had a grandmother that painted and i remember helping her sometimes so thats what i relate it to. i've noticed that when people use designs with a lot of contrast they usually pick a neutral, unsaturated color and then paint bits of exciting on to it.
the menu is broken for me using firefox 3.5.7 the drop down sits on the left and a few pixels under the menu no matter what link i have hovered. and the content container is not the same height as the space on the right of it.
if you need more help write back!
