W3C compliant poster frames?

Hello,
I have a number of webpages with QT movies that utilize poster frames. I am using the common browser dragnet method of object/embed tags, with the embed nested within the object container. However, the 'href' attribute is not a valid attribute in the 'embed' tag, according to W3C standards. Using the 'href' attribute is the only way of which I am familiar to utilize a poster frame for QT movies for the embed tag.
Is there another way to do this which is W3C compliant, does not involve javascript, and preferably, only uses HTML?
Thanks,
Allasso
