Sigh... Bad design.

We know you have an opinion on how things should be run around here. These are suggestions for the forums, and the website. This forum is not a place to ask for suggestions to your own coding (or otherwise) problems.

Sigh... Bad design.

Post by Heavy »

Why did you do this?

My God, what an UGLY place this has become!

I understand you want to streamline things, but this design is completely going in the wrong direction.

Please, make the fonts smaller and put some colours in the design so that one can fast distinguish between the items on screen.

This looks like a first time MS Word user document.

Maybe I was a bit harsh. Sorry. Such behaviour is not creative. Sorry again.

What I mean is that the design in this forum is no longer functional.
It would be OK if there was some eye leading colours here and there and smaller fonts.

I'm mildly, confused, the main forum design is as it has always been, a portal's been added on the front but that's about it as far as changes go.

There are going to eventually be some further design changes (like a different theme). Perhaps you would like to add your comments to this thread:

Yeah, I don't know what you are talking about either. The main forum theme is the same, and hasn't been changed.

There is, however, a new theme being implemented based on the PHP.net design. But that's not on by default.

Not on by default...

Until today I haven't logged in for about a month I guess. As soon as I logged in this php.net look was enabled. I certainly did not enable it myself.

I have to apologize for my overreaction at first. I always type in http://forums.devnetwork.net to get here quickly, and I guess my browser suggested some more for the URL as soon as I had typed the first "for" characters.
This caused me to bypass the new startpage, which I find (after actually browsing this place) to be good. There it all was about theme contest and such.

I still don't understand why I have a php.net theme. I did not select it. Since I didn't select it, I thought everybody was forced into this theme. Then was my reaction. Bare with me. I hate myself for this kind of behaviour. You could delete this whole topic if you like. It probably not only confuses you, but also the rest of the members.

Sorry...

Oooops...

I checked my profile where it said Boardstyle: DoNotUse.
I switched back to Subsilver.
I still don't recall switching to the DoNotUse theme, but if it has been around for very long I might have done so loooong before. I realise that theme is some kind of development version.

This post is like shooting one's own foot with a bazooka.

Aargh. Sorry again!

By the way, The topic review IFRAME does not work with Mozilla 1.4a under W2k. It is completely black, except for some <hr> and some small document icons. Why do I think this is your problem? because with the subsilver theme, it works well.

Haha, well, for a long time, the DoNotUse theme was just the default them. However, it was never the default them. It could be that you might have accidently switched to it or something a long time past, and never noticed a change.

Anyways, yes, do not use the DoNotUse them, =)

As far as the topic review iframe issue, yup, that's my problem. I know about it.

Indeed, we really need to add some new templates to the 1 being used today. I want to be able to have this forum stand out from my other forums, to know which one I'm posting at. ;) If you get my drift.
