No, you said " Someone simply was too lazy / didn't have the motivation or time to upgrade it more carefully, and decided that loosing half a million posts outweighed a few hours of their time."

Much different in context isn't it?

No.

Benjamin said the issue was that there was no upgrade from 3.0 to the current version, lets assume that was 3.5 (not even sure if this is a valid PHPbb version). If they had upgraded from 3.0 to 3.1, from 3.1 to 3.2, one upgrade a time.. then attachments presumably would not have been lost, etc.. etc..

The decision was made (for whatever reason, eg would take too much time) to destroy posts instead of spending the time to do it more carefully. Either the person did not have time, didnt care (wasnt motivated), or was lazy. I stand by my statement 100% (but apologize if my choice of wording offends). My point is simple.... I'm not attacking an individual. Simply stating that it appears the "elders" have no intention to safe keep our posts, or are demonstrating recklessness OR laziness in doing so.

Personally, I would rather be called a mean name.. I'd forget about it and move on with my life. But when you spend six years investing your time in a community, and are left feeling upset over a situation like this, THAT really is offensive.

Yes, I've made a big deal about it, and I've said what I said.... and I meant it. Now, can we move on? The only reason I took this out of the other thread is someone mentioned attachments were also gone. (and I was already irked before I heard that news). Despite my tone I appreciate that someone would even spend their time trying to help us, however I feel my tone is necessary to communicate my point, since it doesn't look to me like a remedy is in our future.

I'm ready to move on but I feel like someone owes us an apology (if not a real solution).
