I seriously do NOT like the new format. It's difficult to read. Please go back to the old format or choose better color contrasts.

Muchas Gracias!

You can choose the subsilver2 theme from your user control panel. It's the old theme

Hm, the contrast is a problem with the new style. We all now how the vast majority of people will not bother adjusting user settings when something turns them off and will just go away never to return.

I think ya'll might want to reconsider the new style...

Just to make it perfectly clear, I'm not complaining about the style and I'm perfectly aware that I can select a different skin from the user control panel. I'm simply saying that the new style is likely to turn away people from the site. Plain and simple.

Cheers

I'm still getting used to the new style, but there are a few things that have been bugging me.

1. The PHPDN logo up in the top bar is mis-matched from the rest of the appearance.
2. As mentioned, the contrast is a bit lacking, and actually, adding some margins on the left and right, even 4%, would probably be helpful from an aesthetic point of view.
3. The new code highlighter embellishes the code quite a bit with spacey headers and footers. Any way to shrink that down a bit?

Still, it's nice to see a facelift!

I'll see if I can get them back. The issue here is that there was no upgrade from 3.0.0 to the current version. Our version had become so outdated there wasn't an upgrade for it. We waited too long.

Is it just my memory, or weren't we able to create unordered lists (bullets) before, with the List= button/tag? Now it seems we're limited to numbered or lettered lists. I liked the ability to have a bulleted list.

Code: Select all

aaaa

bbbb
results in
 • aaaa
 • bbbb
This shows up as bulleted list in prosilver theme (don't know about other themes though).

Aha! So you have to remove the "=" that the button inserts automatically. Thanks, Weirdan!

Actually it seems they are not gone, but files are broken. For example, download/file.php?id=13 there is some content in response, and it resembles png file, but picasa, chromium and IE8 say the image is broken and cannot be displayed.

pngcheck gives the following output:

Code: Select all

[weirdan@home png]$ wget --no-cache 'http://forums.devnetwork.net/download/file.php?id=13' -O q.png
--01:34:16-- http://forums.devnetwork.net/download/file.php?id=13

[weirdan@home png]$ ./pngcheck -vvc q.png
File: q.png (22181 bytes)
File is CORRUPTED. It seems to have suffered Unix->DOS conversion.
ERRORS DETECTED in q.png
[weirdan@home png]$

You could've upgraded thru a couple of intermediate versions. I'm sure there is an archive of the old releases somewhere. Waiting too long has nothing to do with it (just makes it less convenient).

Why not just come out and say it. Someone simply was too lazy / didn't have the motivation or time to upgrade it more carefully, and decided that loosing half a million posts outweighed a few hours of their time.

Josh, I think that's unneeded. I don't know whether you've ever wished that you might have done something different, but if you ever do, let's hope you won't have someone calling you names without knowing all the circumstances.

... i said they didn't have time, how is that name calling? I don't really have to know all the circumstances, a decision was made and all my posts are gone. The first step of the phpbb upgrade process says to make back ups. So obviously somewhere a decision was made to sacrifice our posts, to save that person performing the upgrade a few headaches. If it was accidental then we should restore the backups. Obviously a decision has already been made (without the community's input) to keep the mutilated posts.
