topics being marked as read even if i haven't read them

Post by mydimension »

recently i have been noticing that if i come here and there are topics that are marked as un-read, when i enter that forum there are no longer any "un-read" topics. and not only for that forum but every forum that showed i had un-read topics now shows that there are no un-read topics.

is anyone else noticing this?
can an admin look into this?

thanx

The same thing's happening to me today. I refresh the page and the new topics are shown, refresh it again and they're not.

hrmmm.....

i logged out of the system, closed my browser and deleted the devnetwork cookie. i then logged back into the devnetwork and now topics are not being marked as read.

this is very frustrating. i do hope this will be fixed soon.

Try going to:
http://forums.devnetwork.net/
and logging in there - this seems to have solved the problem for me.

Yeah that fixed it for me too. Actually if you notice its actually impossible to log in at http://www.deventwork.net/forums/ right now. After trying to login you'll be dumped back to the index page, but if you check the Login link is still displayed, not the Logout [ username ] link. (The login cookie is being restricted to only the forums.devnetwork.net domain and doesn't get sent to the www. version)

Yeah I just saw the other thread in the PHPDN forum - which I missed earlier because everything had been marked as read  , it all makes a bit more sense now...

yep, that seems to have done it. looks like the big wigs are trying to ween people off the /forums/ site and get them to start using the forums.de.... site. i just wish the would have warned us.

okay, that would be my fault. All my fault. Sorry, I didn't realize doing what I did was going to cause all the havoc that it did, but it should sort itself out soon enough.

Sorry. :D

I hope that my cross post wasn't too much of a breach of protocol.

I just closed my browser, deleted the cookie and went back to www.
Login worked fine, redirected to forums.devnetwork.net without problem. I manually editted the URL back to www. I'm still logged in. So it apears everything is good now.

Oh and many thanks for the top nav bar! :)
