i dont like telling people how to run there life but this is a tip, maybe you could create an ads forum where people can post there ads in and you can charge them something like $20 a month for a s pace or something. just an idea to think about

Thanks for the suggestion. This is a non-profit making site and I'd like to hope it stays that way. However, I'd definitely want to look at generating some income if that could be used for the benefit of members. Maybe each week we could raffle off a programming book or something like that.

It's been mentioned before but a lot of ideas founder on the fact that we're all volunteers and don't always have time to do everything we might think of.

the idea of ads has been thrown out before. the idea of this forum is not to make money but to help people out with problems.

I have no problem with a few google adwords at the bottom of the page. Sometimes I find they can take me to some useful resources.

There can be as many ads as you guys can fit onto the page, simply because I'll just ad-block them anyway...

There is no reason to place advertising on this site. Jason (site founder) has the domain squared away until February 2010, and ImHosted has donated (free) hosting to us for forever. :)

It's a nice idea, but unneeded.

I'd say that the greater benefit of ad-free discussion outweighs the ability to send a random book every so often to someone.

Free books? Free what? In turn for ads? I like phpdn the way it is... No need for something (annoying) as phpclasses :)
