Lower the posting time limit! (Or make me mod :D)

OK, so McGruff must have changed some settings or something, but I keep on tripping over these "you cannot post so soon after!" messages. It's getting quite annoying actually (I like submitting a post, looking at it, then editing it if something else occurs to me. Also, rapid-fire posting for stock questions is hard with it). Could we try setting it back to a more sane level? Or could you make me mod? After all... I have been around here for quite a bit.
Ah well, not sure if this is the right forum.

I'm not quite sure why phpBB wants you to wait x seconds to edit a post.

Hmm... so it seems like mods have the same limit too.

As of right now I don't think we really need anymore moderators since we appointed a couple during 'la revolution'.
I'll let you know if at any point we do need others..

No, it's okay. Having to moderate other discussions really doesn't appeal to me: I just thought that moderators had "rapid-post" priviledges, where the post throttling was non-existant or nominal (like one second).

I've set the limit to phpBB's default - hope it helps.

Just to explain, on Saturday/Sunday the site was basically under attack. I was getting spam emails in my personal accounts, a deluge of bogus registrations (which led me to block all new registrations for the time being, genuine or not), theft of copyright material, attempts to interfere with the server, and a multitude of vituperative posts on the forums. The post interval was increased as a precaution in case there were further attacks by automated agents.

You never used to confuse cause and effect, McGruff. Shame, that you've taken up that habit.

The moral high ground can be a dangerous place to set up camp but let's just drop it OK? I was just trying to explain what happened in reply to the original post.

Agreed.
