For example,if i have knowelege of how to hack M$'s servers and say feyd comes along(VERY big exagguration ,by the way) and asked me how to hack them, and i told him,he would probably get in trouble for the hacking, but i really wouldnt. im not really sure, but this would seem most logical to me.

All the guy asked was how would he preg_match to the url. We dont know if he wanted to rip the photo from there, get daily feeds or what he wanted to do. If he were gonig to do something illegal,do you think HE WOULD REALLY TELL US? please be real now people.
Actually that is actually wrong. If someone were to post something illegal or how to do something illegal on this board and something were to happen. This forum could be held liable.
so we cant post right? but we could pm 8O ?

also,why the double posting?

oh and yes,i kind of agree with why does feyd need to post his prices in the bottom? people can basically find how good people are in php by seeing their post count or asking someone about the project. It also seems like this thread has turned almost in to a "lets flame the mods" thread. im on the side with you ashton, but what are you looking for on here? just ideas,an apology from patrick G,or the whole mod team?

My PM link is not your hotline for answers. If you want personal, private attention, pay me. $250 per hour for the first two hours, $200 for each hour after. Two hour minimum.
Is that offensive to anyone else? I think its rather inappropriate to parade around your payment structure in your signature line. We get it feyd, you know your stuff.
Todd_Z this is not a bash-fest. Feyd posts his hourly rate because he receives requests every day for work. There is nothing wrong with that.

he could also only say like "If you would like to give me a job,pm me" and make it simple...

Not to speak for feyd, but I think it's more to stop people asking questions, begging for help and harassing him in all the ways possible via PM. That's the same reason why most of the moderators as well as most high-count posters don't have their IM info specified in profile.

What does my knowledge have to do with my wish to put my payment structure in my signature?

i think it might say basically, that you know the stuff and that the rest of the people are here to learn from you (hence why they may have not posted their prices in the sig(or is sig slang..?))

No, that one is completely reasonable. I too have received a few PM's asking for help, one guy even blatantly asking me to do his course/interview material for him - and I suck! So I can sympathise with feyd's message box.

I get those people too, i figure anyone with more than 500 posts has gotten that at least a hand full of time, but couldn't it be something simple like "my pm is not a free resource for help, however I'm available for hire", whereas the www link would be to a site about his pricing information? It just doesn't seem appropriate to see it everytime he posts. I'm not trying to bash, I'm just saying its not appropriate. For the most part I am happy with this forum, i visit about 10 times a day, but sometimes mods do things to make me  .

i agree with jenk for the simple fact...im working on a project for work right now as im sure everyone else is working on similar things....if i could and if i thought it was ethical to do so...i would pm the poop out of every mod until i got all of my answers satisfied....how fair is that to them, or to everyone else for that matter....and at this point in the thread....i gotta side with the mods(and thats really bad bc usually im the anarchist) like hawleyjr stated...this is turning into a moddy bash fest....i was at another php site before i came here the crap i had to endure there was enough to make me wanna come there and i wasnt even registered...heck i ws only there for
30 minutes before i went back to google to search for another...i think were all forgetting the reason why we are
all here in the first place...ill be the first to admit it...i suck at php...thats why im here...sure i posted incorretly a couple of times and sure i didnt always agree with the mods when they called me on it, but i can honestly say ive gotten more help from the mods(with a few exeptions like that wierd goat guy, vodka, and others  ) than ive gotten from anyone else here....now if you guys will excuse me im gonna have some WoW smurfslapping to attend to...and will sombody give me a quarter!!!

If it weren't for this forum... I'd still suck majorly (instead of just sucking occasionally) at php. And it's really because of 3 mods... d11, feyd, and arborint. ESPECIALLY arborint... he's the man!!

Feyd's pricing signature is to put spurious people off PMing about work. Those of us who are admin and have a relatively high post count don't want work requests unless they're serious. Putting "I'm available for hire" in my sig would at least quadruple the number of PMs I get for "Please write this application for me. My budget is $50." jobs. I don't take on any jobs for less than about $15,000 these days, even for a small site. I don't want to invite these offers. I'm very tempted to do the same as Feyd sometimes.

It might seem inappropriate to you, but for those of us who get dozens of requests out of the blue it's one simple line of defence.
