Well I didn't mean you specifically (if you're talking about my comment)... and in reality, I don't even mean mods specifically. I am guilty of it too... sometimes people here come off as condescending whether it's intentional or not. I wasn't trying to offend you feyd... I have a great deal of respect for ya.

I have to agree that I find these discussions should remain behind closed doors because of the simple fact people's integrity and reputation can be seriously affected by meta-discussions. This thread is case and point. There are few people that should be involved in this discussion, and bless technology for making communication very accessible.

That aside.. I'm pretty much sadly dissapointed and disguisted at some of the comments made by some particular users. Albeit I havn't been around very much lately to monitor the situation, but I feel the moderators have made the correct choices in resolving this issue. Any leader (in our case the moderator team) has to make tought decisions and there will always be people that disagree with the decisions made. Thats fine. What bothers me is the lack of direction and substance all these complaints with.

If you don't like it, and don't want to take appropriate measures to help improve our community, then there are other forums you can sign up for.

P.S. I know one thing for sure, I will take every action appropriate to protect the repuation of our members. Publically calling anyone arrogant or whatever does not float around here, and never has for anyone.

Wow,i took a break form this thread and see like 3 more pages on. I guess this thread went off-topic alot to individually flame each of the mods. I guess the point was passed.

If your referring to feyd,i think he called him self arrogant on that one. He even said he would admit he was arrogant.

Can we all agree to end this discussion now please? I think you've said what you wanted to say and perhaps a few have said things which may not have needed to be said but I think it's time to just put this behind us and move on. I'm not planning on locking the thread, you are still free to post but I personally would like to kinldy ask you to let this die now.

Cheers.

Holy Cow!

I have missed so much.. Sorry I could not participate in this discussion earlier because of college... But even if I could, I would stay out of it.

Just before I end my post, I would like to add this:

I have never been treated "un-fairly" by any mods here.
Feyd has helped me, a great deal. I have never gotten criticized for something I didn't do. (for example, Feyd PMed me telling me "Bad Monkey" because I bumped my thread just 6 hrs. after posting... Which was right of him, since I should have waited a little longer before I bumped.) So my point is, I was never treated unfairly.

I have had helped from ALOT of people on this forum... i.e., you (astions), ninja, everah, arborint, scotayy, onion, hokey, feyd(just to name a few---many more people, cant name all).

if I had not found this site, my knowledge in php would have taken time to be where it is right now. (I would have gotten to this level EVENTUALLY... but not as fast)

All in all, I really like this site, and because of the MOD's experience i consider they have a better "judgement" on things, because they have all (probably) seen it before.

And going back to second post to this thread by onion
Sometimes that means erring on the side of caution. We don't want Flickr coming after us, they can afford better lawyers.
makes perfect sense because you never know what the intentions of the questioner are.

Like the saying goes:
its better to be safe than sorry.

I guess can be applied to the MOD's case.

Sincerely,

-Matt

Sorry but I have to step in and not fence sit...

Personally I would like to thank all the mods for their hard work. I know how frustrating it can be to answer the same question again and again and want to put in "RTFM" or buy a book but you guys don't. I remember when d11wtq had a post count less than mine and appreciate the time he must spend on this forum which benefits us all. Feyd, well if he's abrupt it's because he has another 100 or so posts to answer so we don't have to (even if we could). Others sorry, not that familiar with you but....

Thanks guys (and gals if we had any  )

I don't think the complainer is being treated very fairly by some. I have to say there were many similar complaints in the past. Feyd often can be a bit rude and claiming that you are a good programmer does not justify it, even if that were true. (Genuinely clever guys would never say that. You'll usually hear them say they're still learning. That's why they get to be clever). Answering lots of posts doesn't justify it either. I feel I should apologise because it's something I failed to deal with when I was an admin. I did bring it up several times but Feyd can also be very helpful and so I never forced the issue.

PS: If you'll allow me to moderate from beyond the grave, I wouldn't like anyone to use this as an opportunity to bring up other issues. Stay on topic guys.

Apologies for colluding in taking this thread off topic again but I'd like to second that :)
