Locking of "Hello"

I would like to express my disappointment. It seems the thread
"Hello" has been locked for no good reason. This person is new to the forum and just wanted to greet the resident members and I think a poor, intolerant atmosphere has been communicated by locking the thread. I seriously can't see what harm was done by ".Stealth".
Thank you
p.s. Is this the right place for my thread?

We have a thread specifically for introductions. That is why it was locked.

And what is the advantage of everybody creating his/her own hello-thread over bundeling them in
Identify Yourself!?

Sorry, is this directed at me?

No, it's in support of you.
I don't see the need or an advantage in everybody having a "Hi, my name is Luca Brasi and I'm just glad to be here" thread.

I thought so, but wanted to make sure.

yea the forum would get pretty thread-happy if every new member started a thread called "hello"

I agree. There is no need for an introduction thread for everyone. That is why we have one. Same for useful resources. Why do we have one useful resources thread in each forum, as opposed to a bunch of individual threads throughout each forum that highlights useful resources? It just makes sense to centralize threads like that.

Fine. I withdraw my objection.
