Weekly Polls

Post by s.dot »

It seems these often don't get updated every week.

I propose a suggestion of pre-writing err.. 52? polls (1 year) along with the answers and save them in a database. Then a cron could update the site every week. ;)

Go ahead sparky. When you get all 52 of them done, PM me with them so I can get them in the queue.

we've discussed the weekly polls and how they could stay more current... it's always resulted in basically this:
Go ahead sparky.
and then everybody just sort of looks around for sparky.

So, why not start a topic, asking the members for poll titles they'd like to see, along with 4-8 possible answers for each. Gather a good amount of them. Save them in a table. Make a simple script. Put it on a weekly cronjob.

:D

Everyone could be sparky.

I like the idea of letting users suggest polls. How about once a month we make a sticky in here and we collect ideas to use for next month's polls?

Currently the routine is this:

One of us realizes the weekly poll is out of date and quickly asks for ideas from the other mods.
One or two people post and idea or two (but never more :P) and then modify the options a little.
Belated weekly poll posted here...

I'm quite happy to have that change since with a small moderator team it's only going to be a matter of time before ideas dry out :)

I think we should have a poll to see which weekly poll wins for the upcoming week.

If they did that, they'd still have to come up with multiple polling topics.

Just conjur up a 52 long list of hotties with the question: "How hard would you hit it?" and the options:
"I'd miss."
"I'd just about tap it."
"I'd spank it."
"Bullseye!"
"Set phasers to 'HIT IT'!"
