We know you have an opinion on how things should be run around here. These are suggestions for the forums, and the website. This forum is not a place to ask for suggestions to your own coding (or otherwise) problems.
hello guys, i just wanna ask. Is there a way where we can move the resolve topics?, so that our forum is not that populated?, but it can be searched for some reason.
It would also require that members mark their threads as solved. It is hard enough, sometimes, to get members to not use AOL speak or use appropriate topic titles. I can imagine how difficult it would be to have people actively monitor their own threads for solutions and mark them when done.
I do wish people would revise their Subject lines when an item is resolved, but speaking for myself, I'd prefer to see them remain in the forums. I only read the "new" posts since my last login, and I often find interesting threads, from which I can learn something new (yes, you can teach an old dog new tricks!), especially when they've been solved.
i also agreed with califdon, i'm sorry guys if i don't complete my sentence. anyway, actually all i want to do exactly is we move the resolved topics in to another section of the forum. for ex: we can add another section for the resolved topics in this forum entitled "Resolved Topics" so that it will be more interesting for the newbie to browse all the topics that is resolved. Because they will see that all of the members in this forum is really easily to respond and friendly for all the questions in this forum..hope you understand my intention guys...
Another problem is that then you have one of two results: Double the number of forums, or all resolved answers from different categories in one mega-forum.
I don't really like reading about other programming languages, or install/config, so the second solution doesn't appeal to me. I already have to scroll down several times to see the list of forums, so doubling that definitely doesn't appeal.
-1 for me, sorry.
I like the enthusiasm and the good intention, but the devil is in the details.
We could mod the code so that there was a checkbox on each forum which, when ticked, added "`phpbb`.`topic_title` NOT LIKE '[Resolved]%'" to the query that pulls out the topics list. That would eliminate the need to move resolved topics anywhere.
That might be a fair amount of work though, especially as modding PhpBB isn't exactly fun. I'm not volunteering to undertake it.
I think feyd's idea of subforums in phpBB3 sound like the likeliest way to go. It still leaves the issue of the original poster marking their thread as resolved though.

Yes, I think that's the real problem. And I don't see any practical way to resolve that. If I post a question and somebody resolves it, there's no way I can think of to force me to do anything at all. I can just read it, maybe mutter a word of thanks under my breath, and log out. We can try to educate users, but that's about it.
