subSilver is much better :) I remembered that on our devnetstore forum, we were using a beta release of phpbb3 and I loved that there was always a "view new posts" link on the top right... no matter what page you are on. I missed it when I used devnet (cuz we were on phpbb2). then we switched to phpbb3 here and I was like WTF? where's the "new posts" link?? It's only available (at all times) in subSilver :-D

And by the way, I am scheduled to be in the next episode of Moderators Gone Wild. Not to give away too much, but there will be a little something about one-armed goats.. for those that remember.

I'm wichoo, JayBird. :) I really like the new forum. There is definitely more options. I did like the profiles on the left, better, though I shall most likely adjust in time. Other than that, I just love it.

Hey, they're working for free! What do you want from them? What, are you mister perfect!?

No hard feelin's

Oh!
Biggest improvement: the fact that all user names everywhere are now links to they're profile! On the old forum, I had a lot of frustration figuring out how to see somebody's profile.df

And, the ability to edit past posts.

Haha! You just got jiddu chopped by the forum ninja! :)
I don't like the fact I have smilies animating away in the corner of my eye whilst I write posts.
At least they don't talk to you like those advertisements. :)
The one smashing his head against a brick wall is pretty funny. :banghead:

I think the deeper question at hand here is why we don't like bright screens. Better yet, if you make sentence of "I don't/do like bright screens" and then you throw in the word "programmer" into it, does the difference the sentence make lean in a particular direction, most of the time at least? If so, why is that?

Generally the word "complaining" is quite a loaded word, that can bring on intense feelings from either the accuser or the accused. Let's stay away from that. Why can't we just have a conversation, sure there will be disagreements, but that's all they are. If a person doesn't compliment, is he fighting? If a person does not beg, is he bossy? If a person does not appraise, is he fighting?

Some other thoughts I had about the "newness" on these forums:
1. Is it just me or is the new subsilver theme for phpbb3 brighter than the old phpbb2 theme for it?
2. I also thought it was a little difficult to differentiate between alternating replies in a single thread with the prosilver theme, because the alternating colors were too similar in shades or something...
3. The buttons in phpbb3 for subsilver theme are pretty nice.
4. I think most of the brightness comes because the background is white on both subsilver and prosilver templates. On the old forum, I think it was gray.
5. I'm on a laptop with trubright screen illumination, so white screens are like flashlights.

Thanks Ninja, for *testing* the moderation features. Though you may want to edit your own post, as this might be a side of you that you might not want others to find out:

I have to agree with whoever was talking about the trubrite screen. I have to turn the brightness down when I am wearing my glasses. Without my glasses it's not so bad. With or without glasses though, trubrite screens are BRIGHT! I often have the monitor set at only 40% to 70% level.

I spent about 30 minutes and made 3 or 4 color changes to the subsilver style sheet included with phpbb3. These changes are minor but should have a major impact on readability as they increase contrast on important parts of the page by about 40%. This is good for vision impaired people. Please review this and offer it as an alternative. It may need more work as this was done after being awake for 20 hours, but it should be usable at least.

I'm not going to post the entire style sheet here, only a link to it..

I will plug it in to FF in just a little while and see how it renders.
