Devnet Logo

Post by Benjamin »

Hey I changed to the prosilver theme because the old one was beginning to bore me.

I noticed that the phpBB default logo is still there. Is anyone going to create a nice Devnet logo to put there?

Well, I don't claim to be an artist, but if anybody wants to use it, here's my input.:

Well that is certainly better than nothing, but would it match the blue header background color?

It's a transparent background and the shading matches the existing phpBB logo.

We should probably have the title text as an alt tag if we are going to use that image. Senseless repeating it twice, once graphically then textually.

To me the prosilver header whithout any logo and 10px left margin added to site-description div looks just right:

Can't we just ditch that logo entirely?

While that logo is delightful, I don't think we should have completely different logos on each theme. This is the 'official' phpdn logo..

The Prosilver one should really match it, or we should replace it with this new one, or something.

I like the original logo just fine... maybe just use the red dots?

I also think the original logo is fine. It's not pretty, but we're a developers forum, not a graphic designers forum :)

If I would change one thing around here, it would be the top section of the theme (subsilver). Not design wise in colors, but just the organization and layout. Now 80% of that valuable upper half of the screen is waisted on whitespace. Nothing wrong with whitespace, but in this case it stands in the way of reaching the content.

But I guess I'm taking this off-topic :)

I agree about a consistent logo, regardless of theme. The only issue I have is that I like the mono-color effect of the prosilver theme and the "red balls" logo rather clashes with that. I also agree that (1) it's dumb to have both a logo and the text, right next to each other; and (2) we could improve the use of the valuable space at the top.

What about taking the old logo and painting the balls blue to match the prosilver design, whose color I like, then using it in both themes?

I really haven't noticed the logo but yeah it seems a bit odd now. What about plain white text that's there now with the just the logo behind it or positioned somewhere nearby?
