Outbox or Sent Items?

Post by imimin »

I just sent a PM to a member and noticed it was put in the Outbox? Was the message actually sent to the member? It is confusing me because it is not in the Sent Items (maybe it does not work like my local email client-Outlook)???

Thank you!

The PM stays in the Outbox until the user you sent it to reads it. It then goes into your "Sent items"

Didn't know that. Surely that's a bit of a stupid way of doing things? If you wanted to see if someone has read your email it should be flagged a different colour or something in the sent folder. Everything that is sent should go into the sent folder, if the user has read it or not, surely?

Hey Jayshield is right (except for the vocabulary used, of course). Most of us are accustomed to Outlook or Thunderbird, and this sort of confuses things.

Aside from the benefits from an admin standpoint, I dislike the idea that people can see if I've read a message or not. I prefer privacy.

This is a phpBB thing. It can be addressed with them if enough people ask for it.
