How to stop our spam

Post by josh »

Just add rel="nofollow" ( my memory is foggy but google has some tag like this ). We could probably pretty easily make it only apply to users with < 50 posts or something like that.

There have been number of posts that are very questionable lately. Notably one with a new poster asking how to start a web design firm which resulted in another user registering to reply with a SEO link in his signature. It would be good to clamp down on the rules for a while as far as these go.

Not sure if phpBB supports it or not, but perhaps disabling signatures for members with less than X posts would be good.

Well they could post in the post body, if you add rel="nofollow" they'll miss out on SEO backlinks ( itll be better for them to spam elsewhere ). its not foolproof but in theory it would reduce spam.

On another forum I registered to recently you had to join the "Humans" group in order to be able to post. Don't know if that's something that would work and is possible in this version, to create groups I mean.

Haha. Just a group you have join manually: Nothing to do with what species you belong to. :D
