What music do you code by?

Post by BDKR »

This is one that appeared on Slashdot a couple of years back and got tons of response. It's allways interesting to hear a little about ones state of mind while they're hacking.

So, who do you listen to while coding?

Jazz, man. I dig dat skat!

Herbie Hancock and Miles Davis, mainly, with some Coltrane, Monk, and Clifford Brown thrown in.

Oh, and you gotta answer too, BD.

Hrm, right here in the office, I have the following CD's, Boxcar Racer, Drowning Pool, System of a Down, Nickelback, and Rob Zombie

That usually satisfies my musical needs while coding.

Well, since I started this thing, I had better enter the list.

For me, it's still the Cocteau Twins. Then some Cibo Mato, Bjork, and Orbital.

my current playlist is
Seeed - akapella
beautiful south - Root of All Evil
garbage - Androgyny
Lou Reed - Satellite of Love
nirvana - rape me
Shudder to Think - The Ballad of Maxwell Demon
Keimzeit - Küß mich (Nachtvorstellung Live CD1)
huey lewis - hip to be square
weezer - buddy holly
Clawfinger- Nigger
Farin Urlaub - ich gehöre nicht dazu
completely mixed-pickles

but sometimes friends say my music must have something to do with my insanity. For all of you who want to hear the german version of "paint it black" search for "Karel Gott - schwarz und rot"; Karel Gott, the golden voice of Prague ;)

oh, and volka made me remember Boombastic Radio - quite possibly the most diverse radio station out there. I couldn't live without it.
