Your thoughts on this course

Post by m3mn0n »

I'm just wondering if you guys can give me some feedback on this course I'm thinking about taking at a local college.

Here is the overview: http://www.sait.ca/calendars/daycalenda ... /aoosd.htm

I like the fact that it deals a lot with PHP/MySQL, and that it has E-Commerce and Web development modules, and the mangement modules are great. The other languages it includes (C#, VB, ASP) are also good for flexibility & adaptability in the work place.

When I was talking to the course administrator, he told me that they do not really deal with the business side of things, but they do offer seperate course at the college if you're planning to run your own business and want to learn about Accounting, Marketing, Employee management and etc.

He also mentioned that the instructors are all course graduates, and all of them do run their own businesses on the side. So they are great people to talk to about the business side of things, so that is a plus.

So what's your thoughts about this?

The curriculum seems nice. That should be really intensive course to cover all those topics in just 24 weeks though. It's great that they mention Internet security as separate sub-module, but imo it should be applied not only to .NET but to Web-Servers and Open Source Applications as well.
